We are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer, with a keen interest in microfluidics or fluidic systems. The successful candidate will have experience in product design. Willingness to learn, understanding the needs of our customers in the scientific community, and generating innovative technical solutions to meet those needs is essential in this role.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Scoping out user requirements by interaction with in-house science and applications teams Designing components and assemblies for scientific products using 3D CAD software Performing calculations and analyses required for the design Generating 2D manufacturing drawings for test rig and prototype builds Assembling prototypes, recording snags and implementing fixes Optimising performance of fluidic, thermal, mechanical and electro-mechanical systems Testing product capabilities against detailed specifications and writing up results Preparing functional hardware for product demos and science testing Finalising design and manufacturing information for product release Supporting the manufacturing engineering team in setting up the production processes Assisting the commercial team by providing the technical information needed for product launch. Required skills and capabilities:

Upper-second or First class degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical/ Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline Demonstrable knowledge of the design, assembly and testing of precision parts Demonstrable planning and time management skills within technical projects Proven capability to collaborate effectively with other members of a multi-disciplinary team. Knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage:

Flow chemistry, process chemistry, scale-up systems, reaction kinetics, nanoparticle synthesis, drug discovery, droplet microfluidics, single-cell biology, genomics, lab-on-a-chip, scientific instrumentation.
