Quantexa are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Technical Accelerators engineering team who helpsour services teams develop and deploy solutions to fight fraud and financial crime within Financial Services and Government.

We’re looking for an individual who can leverage their software engineering background to develop, test and document a variety of re-usable collateral across the breadth and depth of the Quantexa technology stack. This will involve a mixture of traditional software engineering, DevOps and the wider integration of technologies to accelerate the deployment of Quantexa software to client environments. Ability and willingness to pick up new methods and technologies is as important as existing industry knowledge.

In this role you will:

Be a technical expert across the full Quantexa stack, developing new software components to accelerate the deployment of Quantexa solutions into our clients’ technology ecosystems. Combine new technologies and cutting-edge features to develop tools, automation routines, processes and documentation in the field to enable efficient, quality solutions delivery. Work day-to-day with popular 3rd party open-source technologies including Spring, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, Spark etc. Apply a high standard of engineering discipline including automated testing, pair programming, documentation of features and patterns, and continuous integration of source code. Take a key role in defining, rolling out and continually improving technical best practices to follow when deploying the Quantexa software. Support our project teams, clients and partners to produce high quality, best practice solutions based on the Quantexa platform, in both cloud and on-premise environments. The role is primarily based in our London Waterloo office, but will occasionally involve providing support to client teams based mainly in central London. Further travel may be required on rare occasions.


The ideal candidate will:

Excel as a technical generalist with experience of many of the key languages and technologies in our stack and have gained exposure to delivering solutions using cutting edge open source technologies. Be able to apply strong software engineering principles and have experience in turning a collection of software into a deployable solution. Thrive on enabling those around them, creating easy to use tools and APIs, along with product grade, client facing, documentation. Have experience of making solutions incorporating a variety of integration patterns ranging from batch data integrations to modern, real-time RESTful APIs. Have the ability to problem-solve, a can-do mentality and an enthusiasm to learn emerging technologies and techniques. Excellent technical skills are required, including:

Recent hands-on coding experience of at least one of: Scala (preferred), Java or production grade Python, with a willingness to learn on the job Scala and other languages we frequently use. Practical experience in distributed computing, particularly using Spark and/or Kubernetes. Experience with a variety of modern development tooling (e.g. Git, Gradle, WebPack, Jenkins, Nexus) Familiarity with a range of relevant popular technologies including Elasticsearch, Openshift, Spark (and related Hadoop ecosystem components), Spring Boot, Angular 5+. Being ‘DevOps-Minded’ with an appreciation for CI/CD and the tools and techniques involved (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Docker, Kubernetes and a little bit of good old Bash scripting). Experience of using testing frameworks such as ScalaTest or Junit. Being comfortable on the command line, primarily Bash but occasionally Powershell/DOS if required. It is preferable for candidates to have experience in the following areas:

Delivering solutions into production in client facing environment in relevant industries. Developing Continuous Integration pipelines using Jenkins. Developing and deploying solutions using Docker and associated technologies (Kubernetes, Helm etc.) Hands on experience of using cloud-based environments.Benefits

The expected salary for this position would be £34-65k dependent on experience plus bonus, and an excellent Group Benefits including:
