We are looking for a motivated, bright and organised Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join the Operations team, reporting to the VP Manufacturing.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Developing changes to the process to enable the cost targets to be achieved in a way so as to not adversely affect product quality or process safety Implementation of new production techniques and test methods ensuring that standard operating procedures, risk assessments, qualification and effective communication has occurred during change review forums to make change promptly and effectively Managing the non-conformance log for Royston and Sutton sites, analysing the true root causes of failure to facilitate and recommend changes to working practises to eliminate reasons for the non-conformance Advising on changes to methods of working based on labour variance analysis and non-conformance reporting Modification of drawings based on non-conformances – complying with engineering change procedure. Modification of BOMs where appropriate Redefining and leading the companies engineering change program. Defining the engineering change process and involving stake holders in specific design changes via a change review forum. Defining actions for these stake holders and following up. Mentoring production engineers within the team in Royston and Sutton (time will be split 60/40 between these two sites) using production variances and non-conformances as a mandate for change Performing Process FMEA’s where appropriate and using the output of this risk analysis to inform SOP/assembly instruction updates and or jog/tools design or supplier risk analysis actions Maintaining the manufacturing BOM and build configurations through controlled engineering release Leading investigations using structured problem solving (8D/DMAIC) via kaizen events with the shop floor staff Working with the product development team on new product releases during the prototype phases by advising on FAT capability, advising on assembly drawing suitability in terms of design for manufacture and design for assembly, assisting with Design FMEA’s where appropriate. Responsible for leading the pre-production, production and end of life phases of the product life cycle Responsible for the triage of issues associated with “in progress” works orders to enable production to resume as soon as possible. Target is to eliminate slow moving WIP >10 days old Maintain supplier NCR’s and coordinate appropriate actions with purchasing. Advise purchasing on poorly performing suppliers Responsible for the quality of products shipped from the production areas meet the customer requirements Establishing and maintaining quality control points within the process using visual techniques and/or statistical process control techniques such that cost of loss is minimised. Provide cover during holiday periods and absences for other members of the production engineering team Performing other engineering activities in line with the company requirement. Required skills and capabilities:

Demonstrable leadership skills Good knowledge of Excel, MRP and Lean manufacturing techniques Experienced in Statistical Process Control Techniques Degree qualified in STEM subject or similar Knowledge of CAD design packages (Creo/Pro E Essential) Black Belt Six Sigma with structured problem solving (DMAIC/8D) essential Experience of facilitating Kaizen events with Shop floor staff.
