Our client based in Kettering is looking to further develop and grow their team. Since 2012, they have built up a national and international client database for IT, Hosting, Mobile Network and Cyber Security services. They are now looking for an experienced IT & Network Support Engineer to be responsible for analysing and troubleshooting all aspects of their multiple datacentres and national/international network infrastructure for both internal use and customers keeping up-time as close to 100% as possible.

You will be joining a small, close-knit team who are responsible for 1st/2nd line support of a national and international client base.

The ideal candidate will show a genuine enthusiasm for networking & IT, and will have undertaken study, lab work and/or experimentation in their own time.


* Monitor incoming tickets, ensuring that replies are sent out within agreed timeframes and customers are kept up-to-date at every stage of their support experience.

* Process and Onboard clients through the Support Ticket System, ensuring policy and processes are followed with the correct documentation.

* Diagnose, understand, and fix customer issues with our highly skilled network engineers as an advice and escalation point.

* Troubleshoot customer on-site networking and provide the first line for network support.

* Provide remote hands assistance to customers, increasing to smart hands where necessary.

* Install fibre and CAT6/7 cabling in patch panels and RJ45 connectors, etc. including work at height.

* Use cable testers to certify cabling.

* Perform predefined daily visual & virtual inspections of infrastructure & incoming tickets.

* Rack and un-rack equipment in the data centre depending on internal and external needs.

To be considered, you will need to possess the following experience and knowledge:-

* You have used the Linux operating system in a desktop or server environment.

* You have used Microsoft Active Directory, Terminal Services and Exchange Server.

* You can work independently and autonomously within a time critical environment.

* You have exemplary spoken and written English, including excellent grammar and prose.

* You're proactive and driven with a strong will to hit and exceed service standards.

* You can drive your own internal development with minimal supervision and direction.

* Full manual, clean UK Driving Licence* (Required)

Working hours are a 5 in 7 shift pattern, covering the following hours Monday to Friday 16:00-23:00 and Sat/Sun 10:00-15:00. Total hours 30-35 per week; shifts set 2 weeks in advance.
