About the role:

We are looking for a dynamic and engaged Open Research Services Program Manager to support the development of a new platform focused on open, early research content. The Program Manager will be responsible for the strategic product planning for the new platform and will work within a customer & user-driven environment in order to achieve both market success and support researchers in the Open Research space.

The Open Research Services Program Manager role is an exciting opportunity to define the long-term strategy of a project of strategic importance, managing the relationship with external partners and bringing insight from that customer segment to contribute to the product vision.

The goal for the platform MVP is to transform CUP’s Open Research offering, extending capabilities beyond the traditional publication cycle and leveraging the success of the Cambridge Core content platform. The Program Manager will ensure that the development of the platform serves to facilitate content, interaction, and connectivity earlier than the traditional publication cycle and help CUP support researchers, learned societies, research institutions, libraries and funders in their Open Research goals. This role will report to the SVP, USA / Director of Scholarly Communications R&D and will be a part of the Scholarly Communications R&D team, a team broadly engaged in exploring emerging activities and developments in global scholarly communications.

Key responsibilities will include:

Work with SVP to set the strategic direction and forward plan of the platform

Finalize the release plan and launch checklist for the autumn launch of the Open Research Platform, ensure that all go-to-market activities are coordinated across stakeholders.

Manage and build relationships with external partners, acting as the key contact point during the onboarding process and beyond.

Actively synthesize the market landscape, with the Press’ broader Open Research agenda and aims to contribute to the long-term roadmap.

Work closely with the Senior Product Owner to ensure that partner insights are represented within the roadmap and work together on the prioritization of development

Be an internal champion for the platform, interface with key stakeholders such as the Academic Board, Legal, Editorial, Marketing, and Sales.

Set and monitor commercial success metrics of the Open Research Platform.

Drive and develop the revenue model including identifying the key revenue levers.

About you:

The right candidate will have a keen interest in developing and launching successful new products and experience in delivery of new projects, products, or platforms. They will be open to experimentation and customer-driven development. They will be decisive, proactive, and responsive. This individual will care about improving scholarly communications and contributing Press' mission, goals and activities. They will thrive working with multiple teams and stakeholders, offering excellent communication lines and able to delivery both short-term and long-term projects and tasks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Client or customer relationship management and/or development experience

Experience within the Academic Publishing industry or related field

Program/Product/Project Management experience or relevant equivalent

Experience with large-scale product or project launches, ideally with a platform to customer focus

Familiarity with Agile methodologies, development and release practices, and effective project management.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills working with internal clients and external suppliers

Ability to comfortably and confidently present to all levels within the enterprise and to work with both technical and non-technical individuals
