We work in partnership and collaboration with our customers, to deliver major built environment and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill – from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.

 

A vacancy has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor, working within our Built Environment division. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will work alongside the contract delivery team to ensure the profitability, cash management, cost control and accurate reporting of all schemes.

 

What you’ll be doing day to day Undertake weekly cost to complete / budget reviews with the contract delivery teams Ensure commercial challenge at all times to site teams To ensure draft/outline CTC’s are completed via communication with Project Managers Attend internal and external commercial review meetings Undertake weekly CTC reviews and report to site teams Attend project handover meetings Attend site progress meetings Produce management information required by Building and take responsibility for the accuracy of said information (Provisions, Cash flows, Applications, etc) Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors Manage the commercial aspects of subcontract accounts from procurement to interim and final account agreement with significant input from the teams  Final account negotiation achieving the best possible outcome for Building Preparation of / assistance with the evaluation and submission of claims for variation works Upload documentation as and when necessary in line with business requirements to server Working with the commercial and operational teams to strive for continuous improvement Maximising value and minimising cost, ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to monitor and manage the operating cost base Working with the operational teams to deliver and manage performance Manage commercial performance against business targets and KPI’s Ensure that the delivery team are briefed and have sufficient commercial support to monitor and react to budget variances Promote a culture of integration, continuous improvement and use of best practice across the client base Ensure that the group commercial policies are adhered to and that the requirements of legislation are met Ensuring that cash flow is maximised including ensuring that payments are received on time Preparation of monthly financial performance reports Work in conjunction with the CM’s and site teams to ensure the budgets are not exceeded Management of commercial aspects with the client including comp events, extension of time and completion request etc  

The experience we’re looking for in a candidate An industry applicable qualification Commercial and contractual awareness with a proven track record of success Experience of working JCT contracts A good level of competency of Microsoft packages Self-motivation, passion and a driven 'can do' attitude Be able to organise yourself and others workload An excellent communicator Construction Experience is Essential
