Can you motivate young people and prioritise their needs?

This role requires a high level of patience and understanding working with vulnerable children and young people in a residential setting.

My client is looking for a dedicated organised individual who can take the initiative to work well independently as well as working well with other members of staff and young people.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Provide leadership, direction and support to young people at the home

 Ensure that accurate reporting and recording of all relative information is maintained

 Ensure the delivery of residential care is at a consistent level, which exceeds the NMS

 Ensure acceptable standards of behaviour are maintained by the young people

 To be an effective role model, and to challenge, where appropriate, the behaviours’ and attitudes of the young people

 Ensure house administration, daily paperwork, petty cash books etc are up to date

 To participate in sleep in duties as required

 To take part in and prepare for regular supervision

 To implement the agreed placement plans of each young person and ensure that individual goals are met

 To have a commitment to ongoing personal professional development through training, and, to work towards a qualification at least NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care

Minimum requirements:

 Good verbal and written communication skills

 The ability to develop positive, professional relationships with Young Persons

 The ability to work flexibly on a rota basis to cover weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins

 Good literacy and numeracy skills and a Good standard of education

 Good IT skills to facilitate record keeping and report-writing on the computer

 NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Social Care (desirable but not essential)

 Driver’s Licence
