Location: Grays, Essex

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum

Our client is looking for a Safety, Health and Environmental Technician to provide a highly visible, continuous Safety Health and Environment presence on the terminal to control Major Accident Hazards.

Assist with the creation of a positive Health & Safety awareness and attitude.

Competent, safe and accurate completion of all allocated tasks related to process and personal safety along with the quality performance of the organisation.

To ensure internal and external customer demands related to Safety, Health and Environmental matters are satisfactorily achieved.

Key Accountabilities

* Ensure that visitors, employees, contractors and third parties entering or working on the terminals adopt adhere to the terminals procedures in line with the UK Safety Management Systems

* Assist with the development and implementation Safety and Environmental management systems

* Lead and complete safety inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, and safety observation rounds

* Participation in process observation rounds and security audits

* Assist with the completion of non-conformances and corrective /preventative actions

* Ensure all contractors working on the terminal are adhering to site rules & permit to work stipulations and are working on a safe manner to prevent Major Accident Hazards

* Complete daily permit to work checks across the terminal

* Ensure all safety equipment is serviced at the correct intervals by the relevant proved supplier

* Carry out visual inspections of safety equipment across the terminal

* Co-operate with other departments and staff in the management of contractors including: production of permit to work, method statements, risk assessments and identifying all hazards

* Participate the daily permit to work meeting

* Ensure site policies and procedures on security are adhered too

* Assist with accident investigations as required and encourage and review near miss reporting

* Encourage, communicate and support the role of Representatives of Employee Safety (ROES)

* Assist in the creation of data for compiling Terminal SHE Reports

* Active participation in Terminal and UK Safety, Health and Environmental meetings

* Lead Contractor Forum meetings at regular intervals

* Complete safety related toolbox talks to employees, contractors and third parties as required
