Snr Infrastructure Design Engineer. - Hertfordshire - Residential and Commercial Projects.

Purpose of Role

Act as Senior Civil Engineer providing design and delivery on multiple Infrastructure schemes for both private and public-sector clients. Operating independently or as part of a team to deliver outline, preliminary and detailed designs for minor and major schemes.

The Senior Engineer shall be responsible for:

Projects assigned to them by Project Managers, General Managers or Directors. To provide effective project and people management and lead on multiple projects. To assist with the financial control, quality management and technical input for all assigned projects. Ensuring that the project is managed in a safe and professional manner and is undertaken in compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation.

Key Tasks and Duties

* The design and documentation of civil infrastructure components of the projects, including but not limited to, Highway design (S38/S278) both preliminary and detailed & Drainage design both strategic and detailed. * Conduct any liaison or consultation with statutory authorities or undertakers as necessary to implement the construction of the project. * Carries out tasks as detailed by Line Manager * Works as part of a team * Can communicate clearly and effectively when required * Can complete work to the Quality Standards applicable to the project as directed * Can learn new skills, with guidance * Demonstrates a professional attitude * Contributes to a shared ownership of workload * Has a proactive approach to projects and systems * Preparing reports * Preparing contract documents * Production and checking of drawings (AutoCAD) * Communicating with suppliers, clients, contractors, the public and other engineers within PCL * Analysing problems and developing innovative solutions

* Planning your work and the work of others on a weekly basis * Compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and managerial procedures * Presenting/ representing your specific technical work (presentations / meetings) * Delivering specifically assigned tasks to time and cost * Working towards professional qualifications and undertaking training Key Accountability Finance * Assist Management Team ensure that projects are managed within their respective budgets. * Assist in the preparation of estimates for new work. Processes * Adherence to QA systems and processes. * Provide monitoring information against key indicators when required * Ensure all project files are up to date and comprehensive. * Liaise with clients. Customers * Respond to client and customer enquiries (internal and external customers) and ensure that their needs are met. * Attend business development events as required to represent company. * Maintain excellent working relationships with clients. * Achieve repeat business by maintaining good client relationships and excellence in project delivery. Flexibility * To be flexible - carry out relevant technical and business development tasks as and when required by Management

Beneficial Skills * Full UK driving licence * Management skills * Computer literate with Microsoft Project and other specialist computer packages (AutoCAD, Civils3d, Micro Drainage, etc). * Some design or site experience gained on a work placement. * Experience or an interest in developing the application of software and other digital solutions to engineering problems * BIM appreciation

Qualifications * Accredited degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering *
