The Application Engineer role will appeal to engineers or scientists with an interest in materials. They will be working closely with our commercial teams, showing how the whole range of materials and processing options available today are characterised and feature within the product development processes. This will involve organisations from all of the leading industry sectors, including: aerospace, personal electronics, automotive, etc.

The Role

What you will be doing:

Engage with customers via WebEx and onsite visits to understand their requirements and materials data workflow, including extensive “discovery” to determine use cases and determine value, derive implementation vision and strategy, and identify key metrics for project success Conduct on-site demonstrations and support implementation projects around the world, especially in Germany and Europe Design and develop material and process databases for use in demonstrations Develop excellent relationships with customers’ key technical stakeholders Identify similarities / differences / trends in the requirements between existing and prospective customers, and different industry sectors Work with industry leaders in a variety of sectors— Granta customers include Airbus Helicopters, Airbus DS, KSPR, MTU, RUAG, Siemens Wind Work independently and be innovative regarding the technical sales approach to solving customer problems Keep up to date with developments and best practice within relevant technical communities Present at conferences and key trade events Special attractions of the position:

The ideal candidate will have:

A degree in mechanical engineering, materials science or a closely related discipline Some experience of an industry served by Granta, for example: aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, defence, energy, medical, oil and gas. Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills Strong personal focus with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement An organized approach, with good project management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines Some knowledge of office automation software including Excel, and preferably database applications and some VBA and/or SQL Fluency in German with the ability to communicate highly technical subjects Some familiarity with CAD / CAE / PLM software Experience in the installation, setup and management of Windows application software Some previous experience in commercial sales or fluency in another major European language would be an advantage.
