My Client who is one of the top ten logistics companies within its sector is seeking an experienced Transport Coordinator to join their team. This is to support their continued growth and development.

Transport Coordinator Requirements:

- Experienced in dealing with driving legislation and laws

- Experienced in planning vehicle movements

- Ability to use Microsoft packages including Excel

- Experienced in accident investigation and management

- Ability to work well under pressure

- UK Driving License

Transport Coordinator Responsibilities:

* Fleet organisation and Managemen t - Plan all vehicle movements and allocated collections and deliveries on a daily basis. Optimise loads to fully utilise the fleet and driver's hours' legislation. Manage the fleet deployment dependant on flows and volumes. Plan servicing and maintenance of the fleet to maintain operational optimisation

* Management of resources / Planning - Monitor availability of operational resources choosing appropriate means and of the resources. In line with changes in demand, source drivers from driving agencies, source spot hire rental vehicles when required (i.e. ramp up periods). Plan for holidays, sickness (drivers)

* Driver legal compliance - Ensure that all existing drivers are operating in compliance with all legislations and company requirements and that their driving licence and files are kept up to date. Always take steps towards safety and prevention. Go through infringements with drivers

* Liaison with drivers - Carrying out driver debriefs, filter down information from management, monitor driver's compliance with SOP's. Allocate vehicles and trailers to drivers and communicate.

* Data Management - Update Excel spreadsheets to record fuel and vehicle usage and mileage done by the vehicles. Update MTQ boards and Archives filing. Log all drivers hours and Holidays. Update data on Driver/vehicle tachograph systems.

* Equipment maintenance / repairs of defects - Arrange all vehicle (Trucks and Trailers) servicing and MOT through liaising with service and vehicles suppliers for maintenance and repairs ensuring defects, spares and repairs are managed in a cost effective and efficient way. Process all vehicle defects

* Stock taking, Ordering, collecting spares - Anticipate satisfying level of basic spare parts required, keep the stock replenished on site by ordering and collecting from part suppliers.

* Production of Purchase order numbers - Issue job action numbers and purchase order numbers. Log and forward to accounts, where it will be tallied up with invoices.

* Accident investigation and management - Make sure that driver take details from third parties and fill out an insurance form after the accident, as documented as possible, Forward the insurance form to the relevant department. Support accident investigation within transport department

* Administration of general procedures - Fill out, process and file accident forms, insurance forms, service sheets & defect forms. Report to relevant authorities/departments

Management of priority activities / Operational coverage - Prioritise jobs or operations in order of importance and urgency to ensure effective planning. Adapt activities to cope with contingencies and/or fluctuations in demand. Provide cover on both shifts for holidays and sickness
