Commercial Manager Essex – circa £40,000 pa + Bonus + BenefitsThe CompanyA rapidly growing Chilled Foods manufacturer operating from a modern purpose-built Production facility. As part of their growth strategy, they have created a new role for a Commercial Manager to join the business and become a key member of the senior management team.The RoleReporting directly to the Managing Director, an important focus of the role will be the development and implementation of a Sales & Marketing strategy and the management and coaching of a small Sales team. The Commercial Manager will oversee sales activities relating to new business development, submission of tenders, negotiation of sales agreements, and will deliver a sales plan that will result in increased revenue and improved profitability.     The Commercial Manager will oversee Product Development activities including the management of customer feedback data, understanding what customers want and will lead the product development team to re-work existing products and introduce new products, ensuring margin and return on investment is achieved. The jobholder will manage the financial performance of the Production Business Unit, maximise efficiencies with regard to site services, IT and administrative costs, and deploy the right amount of resources in-line with budgets and operational needs. To measure profitability, the Commercial Manager will track raw material usage and finished product volumes against expenditure, to ensure profit margins on products are maintained.As well as Commercial responsibilities, the jobholder will also be involved in measuring and managing Operational performance in tandem with the Factory Production Manager. This will include measuring operational performance against KPI’s, ensuring Production can meet volumes to fulfil increased sales orders and ensuring the Transport function has up-to-date information to implement plans that allow for a higher volume of deliveries and ensure on-time in-full delivery of customer orders. The Commercial Manager will work closely with the Factory Production Manager to ensure the site is legally compliant and will co-ordinate Continuous Improvement activities that will ensure site-wide standards and processes are continually measured and improved.  The PersonAs this is a multi-faceted role we are seeking an individual with broad knowledge encompassing Commercial, Sales and Operations within a BRC accredited food manufacturer. This position may appeal to an individual who works well in a smaller entrepreneurial company or someone working for a large/corporate food business who wants the autonomy and challenge of growing a smaller business and making a direct impact.
